The Saint George Society

The society has both ranks and awards to offer it's members in recognition of service. These awards are issued by the Council at the end of each month.

Promotion Through the Ranks

Ranks are awarded based purely on a member's leadership skills. With the exception of the first promotion which is awarded after a successful patronage period.

Selecting Members for Promotion

On the 20th of each month the Council members will convene a promotion board to discuss the candidates and add any of their own. They will use After Action Reports (if any) and the Recommendation for Promotion put forth by members. Those members should make sure to include acts of leadership in their Recommendation for Promotion. They will then vote on these candidates.

On the Last day of the month the successful candidates are promoted by one rank.

There are limits to the number of promotions that will occur each month, depending on the number of active society members at the time.

Criteria for Nominations

Candidates are assessed based on their leadership skills both in combat (PvP, PvE), non-combat operations (Economy / Crafting) and out of game (Website, Administration, Graphics, etc.). The Council members shall look for the following:

  • Success in the chosen field
  • Leadership Strengths
  • Awareness of Leadership weaknesses
  • Initiative
  • Communication skills

Because the highest ranking officer in game takes command of the society it is important that leaders understand their weaknesses as well as strengths. For example a member who is a good economic leader should recognize his weakness in combat leadership and delegate to more able, but lower ranked officers when in a combat situation. Note: Meeting all these criteria will not automatically list you for a promotion. See Criteria for Nominations above for clarification on how to get nominated for promotion.

What we don't use

We do not look at the amount if time served or time in game when assessing leadership potential. A talented combat leader who can only play one night a week will be promoted over a weaker leader who plays every day.

Requirements and Regulations for Promotion

In order to be approved for a promotion a Member must be nominated, voted on and win said vote during a promotion cycle at the end of every month as stated above.
