The Saint George Squadron in Naval Action

The squadron has eight social ranks that are different then the in-game military ranks (See "About the Squadron Ranks".) These are split into 2 main groups, and 2 minor groups.

Any member can, regardless of rank, apply to be appointed Flag Officer. Flag Officers are the leadership of the Squadron, each officer having responsibilities in specific sectors like recruitment, trade or naval operations, and as such have seniority in matters regarding the running of the Squadron.

The special rank of Naval Lord is currently not in use, but is envisioned to a position given to the strongest, dependable leadership figure with sound Squadron values, giving him or her seniority regardless of involvement in the Board of Flag Officers. The rank is based on the earlier Sea Lord (see below), and is still in development.

Retirement

A retiring officer is moved to the retired roster and shown with their rank at the time of leaving. Should they wish to rejoin the squadron they do so without the loss of rank.

The Saint George Squadron in Pirates of the Burning Sea

The squadron has eight social ranks that are different then the in-game military ranks (See "About the Squadron Ranks".) These are split into 2 main groups, and 2 minor groups.

The special rank of Sea Lord is reserved for founding members of the squadron. The original Sea Lords were Captains, Blake, Upton, Caldwell, Fletcher, Jones and Porter.

New Captains that are on probation have the rank of Gentleman. After they have successfully completed their probation time they get promoted to Esquire and full member.

A Gentleman or Fairlass that retires from the Squadron are struck from the lists and must reapply if returning later.

Half Pay

Any officer may ask to be put on Half Pay, which effectively gives that officer up to 4 months leave, without the risk of loosing his rank. After the 4 months he is automatically retired from the squadron.

Retirement

A retiring officer is moved to the retired roster and shown with their rank at the time of leaving. Should they wish to rejoin the squadron they do so at one rank less than previously after successful patronage.

The Saint George Society

The multiple game Society includes the ranks of the Squadron, with the exception of Sea Lord. Thus, there are seven total ranks. Gentleman, Esquire, Knight, Baronet, Baron, Viscount, Earl.

The Society does not retire it's members. However, individual guilds may have retirement clauses, such as the Squadron shows above. In other words if you are retired from the Squadron you will have to reapply and pass patronage again in order to join them in game; you will also lose your privileges to see their private forums if you are Knight or above.
