The squadron has seven social ranks that are different than the in-game military ranks. Any member may rise through the Squadron ranks, and the needed qualifications are detailed in this section of the Squadron Regulations. A member must be nominated for a promotion by another member of the Squadron, and these nominations will be voted on by the Flag Officers.
Any officer may ask the CNP to be put on Half Pay, which effectively gives that officer up to 6 months leave. The Captain will be required to login once every 6 months to remain on Half-Pay; any Captain that fails to do so will be automatically retired.

The Saint George Society
The multiple game Society includes the ranks of the Squadron, with the exception of Sea Lord. Thus, there are seven total ranks. Gentleman, Esquire, Knight, Baronet, Baron, Viscount, Earl.
The Society does not retire it's members. However, individual guilds may have retirement clauses, such as the Squadron shows above. In other words if you are retired from the Squadron you will have to reapply and pass patronage again in order to join them in game; you will also lose your privileges to see their private forums if you are Knight or above.
